Keyboard Sound & Mod Chart
What actually changes the sound, how much, and what it costs you to undo.

p2 · THE CHART
p3 · What is reliable, and what depends on your board
p4 · The order, and the expensive mistakesWhat you get
Every common keyboard mod, rated for what it actually does — and what it costs you to undo.
A printable reference chart for anyone modding a mechanical keyboard. Twenty mods, each rated for effect, how reliably it works, whether you can reverse it, and what it risks.
WHAT YOU GET
- 6-page PDF, instant download
- Both A4 and US Letter (two files, same content)
- THE CHART — every common mod in one table
- Which mods work on any board, and which depend entirely on yours
- The order to do them in, and why stabilisers come first
- The tape mod safety question, with both positions and where it lands
- "I want it to sound like ___" — reverse lookup for thock, quiet, poppy, clacky, and fixing hollow or pingy boards
- Glossary and a build checklist
THE HONEST PART
Most mod guides tell you what to do and not what will do nothing. This one tells you when a mod will not work on your board and why — a tape mod on an already-dampened gasket board is the big one — so you stop chasing a change that was never available.
It also says plainly which things you cannot mod your way to. Plate, mount and keycap material are purchases, not mods, and no amount of tape changes that.
WHO IT IS FOR
First-time builders who want to do things in the right order, and anyone with a board that sounds wrong and does not know which of six mods to try.
